90 days of the year have sped past already. How has the year been so far? How much have you been able to achieve? If you haven’t given up on your vision, kudos to you. If you have had to make some changes along the way, good job for staying on track. And if you had to take a break on meeting those goals, don’t give up on yourself: what matters is that you pick up where you left off and go on from there. Remember, this is a marathon and not a sprint. You need to pace yourself, so you last for the long haul, this goes a long way in getting you to keep pushing to meet your goals and forms part of patterns you need to develop for continuous growth. Here are 5 more things to help you stay on track:
- Celebrate Your Successes
You may not be where you want to be just yet, but you’re further than where you started from. It’s important to track your progress and a vision board is a powerful tool to help you do this. Your vision board shows how far you have gone, as you have been keeping track and measuring your progress on it. A pat on the back, or a self-congratulatory note, is great for self-esteem. If you hit a particularly big milestone, you can take yourself out: you deserve it.
- Learn from your Mistakes
Mistakes simply teach you how not to do something they’re not meant to put you down, but build you up. You can’t do everything perfectly. Where you have messed up, you should identify what you did wrong and learn how to do better.
- Stay on Course
Someone once said, ‘Tough times don’t last, tough people, do’. Life isn’t a straight line, there will be ups and downs and you need to learn how to stay on track even when you don’t feel like doing it anymore. Think of the big goal at the end of the long tunnel. Think of how you would feel knowing that you have set a goal and achieved it by yourself. There’s strength in numbers, so instead of doing it alone get accountability partners that spur you on to keep moving.
- Never Stop Learning
Understand that if you stop learning, you’re not going to stagnate but you’ll actually be regressing because life keeps moving and new things keep coming up. Do you know the current/future trends in your industry/area of interest? Make an effort to be a lifelong learner, it increases your ability to be of increased value to yourself and those around you.
- Guard your space
There are some people who are extremely skilled at draining your energy or leaving you a worse state than when you interacted with them. Be mindful of the impact relationships have on your life and as much as possible avoid allowing toxic influences in your life.
